In November last year, Samsung launched its Galaxy A12 in the budget range of under 15,000. Is this a good fit for you?
You will soon see.
Samsung Galaxy A12 : Important Specs
- 4 GB RAM along with 64 GB/ 128 GB of storage (can be expanded upto 1024 GB with a micro SD card)
- A MediaTek Helio P35 processor is present
- It comes with a massive battery which will last more than a day (5000 mAh)
- A four-camera setup, with the main camera being 48 MP
- This phone comes with a lot of sensors too, including the fingerprint sensor.
(This was just a short summary of some of the most important specs of the Samsung Galaxy A12. The complete review is yet to come.)
Design & Outlook
At the back of the smartphone, you will see a textured design on the upper half and a smooth surface at the bottom. This textured design has two advantages :
- It gives a good grip
- The surface does not get scratches easily
Its display is a 6.5 inch HD+ display. The colours are very bright on the smartphone. You will get a high-quality experience streaming movies or just scrolling the YouTube.
The front portion of the screen also has a good look.
Overall, the whole Galaxy A12 by Samsung looks nice, both on the back as well as the front
Now, let’s move on to……..
It comes with the MediaTek Helio P35 processor. It is a good processor in this price range. It has 8 cores. Half of them are clocked at 1.8 GHz and the other half are clocked at 2.35 GHz.
This Samsung smartphone functions on One UI 2.5 based on Android 10. The UI (User Interface) is better on this operating system than most other operating systems.

You can easily play games on it without any issue, but I will not recommend this phone for games that take up a lot of CPU space, like PUBG and Call Of Duty, because then it can hang a bit.
Other than that, it boots quickly and also launches apps without any delay.
You can carry out your day-to-day functions easily and there are no major heating issues as well.
It has a filter to reduce eye strain known as the blue light filter.
Blue light radiated by phones is very harmful for eyes and this is the reason why you can’t sleep properly. So, this is a good feature offered by Galaxy A12 to reduce the blue light coming from the phone.
However, there are no screen modes like warm and cool on this Samsung model.
So you can use this phone for any task except high-end gaming.
Because a phone’s price keeps on changing, I advise you to check out its current price on Amazon here :
As mentioned earlier, this phone is packed with a massive battery of 5000mAh. Once you charge this phone a full 100%, then the charge will easily last till the next day!
And that is a big relief for many people. Because if you forgot the charger at home, you don’t have to panic, at least if you have a significant charge left on the phone.
Though its battery lasts a long time, the phone doesn’t charge that quickly, despite the presence of a 15-watt adapter for fast charging.
It takes about 3 hours to charge from 0 to 100%.
If you want a phone under 15,000 that can take good photos, then I will give This Galaxy A12 a 10/10. It takes really clear photos.
Four cameras are located at the back side of the phone.
Each camera has its own use and is of different megapixels(MP)
The depth camera adds depth to the photo and the ultra wide camera is used for taking the picture of a broad area.
For portrait shots, the phone has a Live Focus feature to blur out the background.
All these cameras combined give a superb effect to the photo.
One more camera is present on the front of the phone. The selfie camera.
It is present at the top middle, clicks amazing photos and is of 8 megapixels.
There is a fingerprint scanner too. It is present on the right side of the phone, not on the usual button at the bottom.
There are three more sensors embedded in the Galaxy A12.
It detects if your phone is close to your ears, that is, you are talking to someone or not. If so, it automatically closes the screen, though you are enjoying your chat without even knowing it.
It saves the battery of your phone by closing the screen when you don’t need it.
Ambient Light Sensor
It appropriately dims the brightness of the phone at night. To me, this is a very important feature because with my old phone, I had to dim the brightness myself before using it at night, because when the whole room is dark, you don’t need too much light.
On the flip side, it also increases the brightness when you are out somewhere on a sunny day and want to use your phone but you can’t see anything because of the direct sunlight.
This is very common in phones. It just tilts the view of the phone when you are holding it in a different way.
Is Samsung Galaxy A12 Worth Buying?
There is no doubt that this phone offers a decent amount of features, but better phones with even more features are available in the market.
This is a phone with a good camera and an excellent battery life. It is a regular work phone that will click great photos. But this one is definitely not meant for gaming.
So look at your own needs and choose your phone accordingly.
Check it out on Amazon here.
You can even compare it with the Redmi Note 9 which is also a good phone under 15,000.
